The Evolution of Truth

Is man's true evolution physical . . . or spiritual?

Our knowledge of the truth is ever evolving, but what is the truth about our evolution? Is our evolution as humans based on physical changes over eons that have made us less like the lowest of living things?  Or is our evolution as humans based on the spiritual change in a lifetime that makes us more like the highest, more like the God who created us?  Which is "The Evolution of Truth?"

How can you find the truth about yourself?

It's a question worth asking, and one to which you must seek the answer on your own.  All I can tell you is this:  As I've examined the evidence for evolution theory, I've found more problems and unanswered questions than I ever before considered.  As I've drawn closer to God, I've found truths that I had never before considered: Truth about myself, truth about human nature and truth about life.

How does God reveal himself to us?

I've found that God is as close as we are willing to let Him, revealing Himself in words, insights, answered prayers, unexplained "coincidences" and in the beauty of the universe around us.   How does one seek God and know Him more deeply?  You can get insights into God from any religion.  Study them for yourself to see if in the history of mankind there is anyone who seems to be more one with God than Jesus Christ.

Perhaps you know Christ as I have described Him, as a living person who is Lord and Savior.  If so, I hope this site has given you added reason for your faith.  Perhaps, however, God seems distant to you, maybe nothing more than an ancient concept or belief. If this idea of God as a person who appeared to us in Jesus Christ seems foreign or unbelievable, understand that I felt that too for almost the first forty years of my life.

I don't have a magic wand to make God touch you the way He touched me. We are each unique creations who can only find God in our own unique time and way. I can, however, share what I know was important to my own acceptance of God and growth in my relationship with Him.

Are the reasons for God's distance are within you?

I found that God's apparent distance or absence was the result of my own choosing, attitudes and beliefs. Only when I realized that there was a standard much higher than the one I had set for myself could I seek God with honesty and humility. In Jesus' words:

"I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
(Matthew 18:3)

Read the Gospels of Matthew, Mark , Luke and John. Each takes a different view in its telling of Jesus, his actions and his words. (Some extracts are included in the Links page.) Get a good study Bible so that you can appreciate the cultural, historical and theological significance of the events.

Seeking and knowing God goes beyond religion

If your impressions of God, Jesus, Christianity or religion have been formed by the world and the media, you'll probably be astounded at how different the Gospels are from what you have seen and known.   Don't judge God by mankind's inability to understand or to even worship Him.

Spend time with God in worship and prayer by yourself. Two favorite quotes:

"This is adoration: not a difficult religious exercise, but an attitude of the soul." Evelyn Underhill

"It is quite natural and inevitable that, if we spend sixteen hours daily of our waking lives in thinking about the affairs of the world and five minutes in thinking about God and our souls, this world will seem two hundred times more real to us than God." William Ralph Inge

God draws us into a relationship with Him

I now believe God created us as an act of love, and for a relationship of love. If down deep you feel that we all too often value the wrong things in life, try taking a look at life from God's perspective. You may just find that the same things that keep you from a true sense of peace or fulfillment are the same things that keep you from God.  Take a hard look into the life and words of Jesus Christ, and decide for yourself who He is.  You may find that missing piece to life's puzzle is God, and that you can be more with Him than without Him.  In Jesus' words:

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." (John 3:16-17)

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." (John 8:12)

I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John 10:10)

You can be more with God than without Him

Perhaps I'll be adding more later, but this is the end for now. You don't need me, of course. All you need do is to look at yourself in the mirror or look out the window and realize that we are here with design and purpose, that God created us to have a relationship with Him and that in Jesus He came to show us the way. Seek Him and find who you were really meant to be.

May God guide you and bless you!

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find;
knock and the door will be opened to you.

For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds;
and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

(Matthew 7:7-8)
